Dermal Fillers for the Volume You've Lost, Not a New Face

Maybe it’s your lips looking thinner than they used to, or a hollow under your eyes that wasn’t there a few years ago. Maybe it’s the lines running from your nose to your mouth, the ones that showed up gradually enough that you never noticed exactly when. Filler doesn’t change your face into someone else’s. Used well, it adds back the volume that has faded, so you end up looking like a rested version of yourself rather than a different person.

We are a physician-owned, physician-supervised med spa in Andover, and every filler appointment starts with an honest conversation about what actually makes sense for your face. That’s a different starting point from a sales pitch for our biggest package, and it’s on purpose.

A consultation here is a conversation, not a commitment. We’ll tell you plainly if a smaller amount, a different filler, or no filler at all is the right call.

What Dermal Fillers Actually Do (and Don't Do)

What Dermal Fillers Actually Do (and Don't Do)

Dermal fillers aren’t one single product. Most of what we use, including Juvéderm and the gel behind most lip fillers, is hyaluronic acid. It’s a soft gel that adds volume right where it’s placed, with results you can see the same day. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons has a helpful overview of how these gels work if you want to read more before your visit.

Sculptra takes a different approach. Rather than directly filling space, it encourages your skin to build collagen over several months. That’s why people turn to it for slower, more gradual volume loss, rather than a single line or feature.

Filler is one of the injectable treatments we offer at our Andover practice, alongside Botox and Dysport. Whether it’s a small touch-up to your lips or a longer Sculptra plan, every appointment starts the same way. We look at your face first and tell you honestly if you aren’t a good candidate for a particular product, instead of talking you into it anyway.

Lip Fillers Are Usually Where People Start, and For Good Reason

Thinning lips is one of the first things people notice, and it’s an easy, controlled place to begin with filler. A small amount of hyaluronic acid gel restores lost volume and softens vertical lip lines. It won’t change the basic shape of your mouth unless a fuller shape is actually what you’re after. Either way, we start conservatively, since it’s much easier to add a little more at a follow-up visit than to walk around with a result you didn’t ask for.

Most first appointments use less product than people expect walking in. We’ll show you exactly what a conservative amount of lip fillers looks like before we ever talk about adding more.

Start With a Juvéderm Consultation at Our Andover Office and We'll Map Out What Needs Volume

Juvéderm treatments cover more territory than lips alone. It’s typically the choice for cheeks that have flattened, smile lines that have deepened, or hollows under the eyes that make you look tired even when you aren’t. If you’ve had filler somewhere else before, Juvéderm is probably the name you already know.

Start With a Juvéderm Consultation at Our Andover Office and We'll Map Out What Needs Volume

We’ll look at where you’re actually losing volume. Then we’ll tell you whether Juvéderm is the better fit than lip filler or Sculptra, rather than defaulting to whichever product is easiest to sell.

Sculptra Treatments Takes a Different Approach: Building Volume Instead of Filling It In

Some volume loss is spread across your whole face rather than concentrated in one spot. When that’s the case, Sculptra, an FDA-approved biostimulator, is usually a better match than a single syringe of gel. It works by prompting your skin to build collagen over a series of visits spaced weeks apart, so the change shows up gradually rather than all at once.

Nobody clocks the exact day you did it, which is exactly why some people prefer it. If your volume loss looks more like that, Sculptra collagen treatment is worth bringing up at your consultation even if you came in asking about something else.

Common Questions About Dermal Fillers

Botox relaxes the muscles that cause movement lines, things like crow's feet or forehead creases. Fillers do a different job. They add back volume in areas that have thinned, like your lips, cheeks, or the lines running from your nose to your mouth. A lot of people end up using both, just for different reasons.

Not if we do it the way we prefer to: conservatively, with room to add more later if you want it. We would rather start small and let you decide you want more than give you a result you have to explain to people. Most people who leave here with filler just look rested, not different.

It depends on which filler and where it's placed. Hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvéderm typically last six months to about a year, with lips fading faster than cheeks since your lips move so much. Sculptra works differently and builds gradually over several months, with results that can hold for two years or longer.

Most people describe it as a pinch, not real pain, and we use a numbing cream, or a filler with numbing medicine already mixed in, to keep it comfortable. You might have some swelling or a small bruise for a few days, but there's no real downtime. Most people go back to work or a normal evening the same day.

Hyaluronic acid fillers, our main choice for lips and cheeks, can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase if you're not happy with the result. Sculptra works differently since it builds your own collagen rather than sitting under the skin, so it isn't reversible the same way. That's why we build it up slowly over more than one visit, instead of going heavy on the first try. We'll tell you which category any filler you're considering falls into before you commit.

We are a physician-owned, physician-supervised practice, and every filler appointment happens under that oversight. We'll confirm exactly who will be treating you and their credentials when you book, so you aren't walking in blind. Individual results are not guaranteed and may vary. A filler consultation here is a conversation first: what you want, what’s realistic, and whether a smaller amount solves it before we talk about a bigger one.
