Since we are all stuck at home and missing our time at the med spa, we have put together our top tips to take keep glowing healthy skin amidst Covid-19. The good news is we are all in this together! Though we all have horribly chipped nails and ever-growing uncolored roots, that doesn’t mean your skin has to suffer too. You may not be able to get the high-quality HydraFacial or Botox injections your missing at home, but a little extra time caring for your skin will make all the difference as we await our med spa’s reopening.
Moisturize
Did you receive filler injections prior to Covid-19? Fillers will last longer with hydrated skin. Whether you have received fillers or not, it is key to include moisturizers in your daily routine. Each day be sure to include a moisturizer or cream containing vitamin C, hydrochloric acid or retinol to keep your skin pump and youthful. At night choose a thicker hydrating cream to penetrate deep into your skin while you sleep. Dry skin looks aged and causes irritation, hydrated skin will help prevent wrinkles and help you maintain a healthy glow.
Supplement
Studies have also shown that Zinc can help prolong anti-aging effects of Botox! Want your Botox to last longer, since it may be some time until you can get back to the med spa? Consider adding a zinc supplement to your daily routine to help prolong the effects of Botox. Zinc will also help boost your immunity which is ever so important in this time. On that note, if you’re not already taking a multi-vitamin daily, now is the time to start. Vitamins are essential for skin health and will give your body the vitamins it needs to help keep you running at peak performance. Incorporating vitamins into your routine will help keep your skin looking as healthy as possible and can help reduce; dark spots, redness, wrinkles, rough patches and excessive dryness.
De-Stress
Stress can age your skin even in a matter of days! It’s easy to feel stressed in the time we are living in. It’s best to avoid some of the things you may commonly lean towards during a stressful time. Many may turn to salty or unhealthy food cravings, alcohol, smoking or caffeine to help de-stress. Please resist the urge to indulge in bad habits, their after effects will show on your skin and in your overall health. To help with stress, be sure to eat a healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, healthy proteins and plenty of water. A balanced diet will help you stave off unhealthy cravings that present when we are stressed. To keep stress levels in check while stuck at home, be sure to incorporate one thing each day to help you un-wind. Include the one thing that will help you maintain your sanity in trying times. For some that could be time to read a book, a brisk walk outdoors, meditation, yoga or a hot bath at night. Whatever it may be for you, be sure to keep a routine and keep some time for yourself to de-stress each day…your skin will thank you!
Pamper
Extra TLC during this time will help keep your skin as healthy and glowing as possible while at home. Set aside time each week to spend a little extra time for yourself. Even just 15 minutes of a DIY mini facial will help hydrate your skin while allowing you time to de-stress. Incorporate a pampering DIY mask or scrub to treat yourself to something new and feel refreshed again! Here are a few simple DIY’s if you can’t get to the store to pick up something new.
- Body Scrub: Mix brown sugar and coconut oil. Add a drop or two of your favorite essential oil. Mix together and you’ll have a luscious body scrub for your next self-pampering session.
